1 TERMS AND CONDITIONS

 

1.1 The promoter to this promotion is Dotsure Limited (Registration Number 2006/000723/06), a licensed non-life insurer and authorised financial services provider (FSP39925) referred to as “dotsure.co.za.co.za”.

1.2 The affiliate to this promotion is Pick n Pay Retailers (Pty) Ltd (“Pick n Pay”) (registration number: 1973/004739/07), a company incorporated in the Republic of South Africa and having its registered address at 101 Rosmead Avenue, Kenilworth, 7708.

1.3 All persons entering the Pick n Pay Pet Club & dotsure.co.za.co.za 50% (fifty percent) Off Pet Insurance Promotion (“the promotion”) (“the entrants”) agree that the promotion rules as set out in these terms and conditions are binding on them. A copy of these terms and conditions is available at www.pnp.co.za.

 

2 IMPORTANT NOTICE

 

2.1 These terms and conditions and competition rules contain certain terms and conditions which appear in similar text style to this clause and which:

2.1.1 may limit the risk or liability of the promoter or a third party; and/or

2.1.2 may create risk or liability for the entrant; and/or

2.1.3 may compel the entrant to indemnify the promoter or a third party; and/or

2.1.4 serves as an acknowledgement, by the entrant, of a fact.

2.2 The entrant's attention is drawn to these terms and conditions because they are important and should be carefully noted.

2.3 Nothing in these terms and conditions is intended to, or must be understood to, unlawfully restrict, limit or avoid any rights or obligations, as the case may be, created for either the entrant or the promoter in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, 68 of 2008 (“the CPA”).

2.4 The entrant acknowledges that by submitting his or her entry to the competition he/she has been given an appropriate opportunity to first read these terms and conditions before entering and that he/she understands and agrees to the terms and conditions.

2.5 All entrants to this promotional competition participate entirely at their own risk. By reading and accepting these terms and conditions, the entrant gives consent to these risks and hereby indemnifies and holds harmless dotsure.co.za.co.za and any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by or is in common control with Pick n Pay; their directors, employees and agents against any and all liability or any damage, cost, injuries and losses of whatever nature sustained as a result of their participation in the competition and related events and activities, save where such damage, cost, injuries and losses are sustained as a result of the gross negligence or wilful misconduct of any indemnified party.

 

3 RULES OF THE PROMOTION

 

3.1 The dotsure.co.za.co.za and Pick n Pay Pet Club promotion will run from 08:00 on Saturday, 1 June 2024 to 23:59 on Saturday, 31 May 2025 (“the promotion period”). Any entries made after the stipulated closing time and date will not be accepted.

3.2 Registered Smart Shoppers who are Pick n Pay Pet Club members and apply for a dotsure.co.za pet insurance product are eligible for the following:

3.2.1 A 50% (fifty percent) discount on their pet insurance policy premiums (pro-rata premiums and VAPS excluded) for the first 3 (three) months of their pet insurance policy.

3.2.2 Existing dotsure.co.za pet insurance policyholders will not qualify for the 50% (fifty percent) discount.

3.2.3 The discount offer will be available on a once-off basis to policies that incept on the date on which this discount offer becomes active and whilst it remains active.

3.2.4 After the first 3 (three) months have lapsed the discount will no longer be provided and the standard pricing will be charged.

3.3 To enter the promotion, the entrant must sign up to join the Pick n Pay Pet Club by:

3.3.1 Agreeing to the online quote process and ticking the opt-in box. The Smart Shopper will be automatically signed up as a Pick n Pay Pet Club member.

3.3.2 Visiting the Pick n Pay website, www.pnp.co.za/smart-shopper/pet-club by including their Smart Shopper card number and personal details, including but not limited to, email address and mobile number or send a FREE SMS to short code 30926.

3.3.3 The Smart Shopper or Pet Club member must apply for a dotsure.co.za pet insurance product by:

3.3.3.1 Calling the dotsure.co.za call centre directly on 0861 368 7873.

3.3.3.2 Scanning the provided QR code and clicking on the link provided online or in-store communications which will direct them to the dotsure.co.za pet insurance page. Here the customer will need to complete the online application page and provide their Smart Shopper card number.

3.3.4 All applications for insurance made via the dotsure.co.za.co.za Portal are subject to and must comply with dotsure.co.za.co.za’s normal approval criteria and are governed by the normal terms and conditions that apply to the requested product. The full terms and conditions are contained within dotsure.co.za.co.za’s policy documents. This can be accessed at any time on the dotsure.co.za.co.za Portal.

3.3.5 dotsure.co.za reserves the right at any time and from time to time to modify or discontinue, temporarily or permanently, this discount offer with or without prior notice due to reasons outside its control (including, without limitation, in the case of anticipated, suspected or actual fraud). The decision of dotsure.co.za.co.za in all matters under its control is final and binding and no correspondence will be entered into.

3.3.6 dotsure.co.za.co.za shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations, where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.

3.3.7 Customers can add more than one pet to their policy and qualify for the 50% (fifty percent) discount.

3.3.9 In order to qualify as an entrant for this promotional competition:

3.3.9.1 the entrant must live in the Republic of South Africa;

3.3.9.2 the entrant must provide correct and full personal details, as required;

3.3.9.3 the entrant must be 18 (eighteen) years old or older;

3.3.9.4 the entrant cannot be a juristic entity and must be an individual;

3.3.9.5 the entrant must be a registered Pick n Pay Smart Shopper; and

3.3.9.6 the entrant must join the Pick n Pay Pet Club before 1 June 2025.

 

4 GENERAL

 

4.1 By entering the competition in accordance with its terms, the entrant is entering a promotional competition for the purposes of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 ("CPA") and the promotional competition will be conducted in accordance with the relevant provisions of the CPA. Should the entrant win a prize in the competition, they undertake to expeditiously do all things necessary to enable the promoter to comply with its obligations under the CPA including, but not limited to (i) providing such personal information as may be required in order to facilitate handing over the prize (including providing proof of address and identity number) and (ii) signing receipt of the prize upon its delivery.

4.2 Winners may be requested to take part in the promoter’s or affiliate’s publicity campaigns or to allow their names and likenesses to be used by the promoter or affiliate for promotional purposes. Winners are, however, entitled to decline such request.

4.3 The promoter shall conduct the competition, and the promoter’s decision on any matter related to the competition, including the selection of prize winners is final.

4.4 Fraudulent and duplicate entries will not be allowed and dotsure.co.za reserves the right to disregard these entries.

4.5 dotsure.co.za will respond to any questions or queries about the competition via email, u2us@dotsure.co.za.

4.6 Dotsure Limited, Pick n Pay Retailers (Proprietary) Limited, any entity in the Pick n Pay Group or Company, their directors, members, partners, employees, agents or consultants, the suppliers of goods or services in connection with this promotion, or any other person who directly or indirectly controls or is controlled by the above named parties and their respective spouses, life partners, business partners or immediate family members are not permitted to participate in this promotion.

4.7 By accepting the terms and conditions, all participants hereby consent thereto that, should they be drawn as one of the winners, they allow dotsure.co.za and/or Pick n Pay to publish their first name on the dotsure.co.za and/or Pick n Pay social accounts and the monthly dotsure.co.za and/or Pick n Pay Pet Club newsletter/ mailer. Should the winner however not want their first name published, they must inform dotsure.co.za and/or Pick n Pay immediately, failing which dotsure.co.za and/or Pick n Pay will proceed to publish their first name.

4.8 dotsure.co.za and Pick n Pay accepts no responsibility for any damage, loss, liabilities, injury, or disappointment incurred or suffered by you as a result of taking part in the competition. dotsure.co.za further disclaims liability for any injury or damage to you or any other person’s computer relating to or resulting from participation in or downloading any materials in connection with the competition.

4.9 dotsure.co.za or Pick n Pay shall not be liable for any failure to comply with its obligations where the failure is caused by something outside its reasonable control. Such circumstances shall include, but not be limited to, weather conditions, fire, flood, hurricane, strike, industrial dispute, war, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, inevitable accidents, supervening legislation, or any other circumstances amounting to force majeure.

4.10 The competition will be governed by South African law and entrants submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the South African courts.

4.11 These terms and conditions constitute the competition rules which are available for inspection on the dotsure.co.za and Pick n Pay websites.

4.12 ALL ENTRANTS WILL BE DEEMED TO HAVE ACCEPTED THESE TERMS AND CONDITIONS.
